Ride to Stinson Beach from Gold Gate bridge. Pass through redwoods and over west ridge of Mt Tam. Optional visit to Muir Woods. Can be very hot in summer. This is the fast but not so safe route. Traffic on Hwy-1 can be heavy during commute hours and weekends. There is no bike path and no shoulder on Hwy-1 but the rest of the ride is much more quiet. Safe and quiet route is to take Miller Ave -> Throckmorton -> Cascade (Old Mill Park) -> Molino -> Birch -> Edgwood -> Panoramic Hwy. Start in Northwest parking lot Golden Gate Bridge. The fast route into Suasalito is shown. The Scenic route is to take Bike Path 5 under the Golden Gate Bridge and through the park.

Gear up and join architects David Baker and Robin Levitt and planner Rob Bregoff for a guided hilly ride to the city's most spectacular post-earthquake homes. Part of September's Architecture + the City Festival, this ride benefits AIA San Francisco and the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition. The tour will focus on notable modern residential architecture outside of San Francisco’s downtown core. It will look at works by Second Bay Area Tradition architects and contemporaries, including buildings by Richard Neutra, William Wurster, Gardner Dailey, Henry Hill, Joseph Eichler and Anshen + Allen. Part of a rich architectural tradition, these buildings are also a feature of our everyday landscape. Total biking time is about four hours. The ride will cover 20 miles, including hilly terrain. Riders must provide their own bicycle (low-gearing recommended) and wear comfortable clothing with layers and a helmet. The tour will stop for lunch at the appropriate time (lunch not included).
