The way to do this route is clockwise. The section from Island Pond to Norton is generally uphill, but no bad climbs. The road surface is bad for much of this stretch, but there's not a lot of traffic anywhere on this ride, so you can avoid most of the bad spots if you keep a sharp lookout. There are a couple of climbs between Norton and Canaan, but they're really not that bad and the descents are fast. The road here is quite good. The stretch south from Canaan to Bloomfield is rolling with very nice views of the White Mtns in NH. once you get south of Lemington, the pavement improves and things flatten out a bit. The steepest climbs are on the last leg, though they are not terribly long. Again, the road surface is generally bad 3'-4' from the edge, so you really need to keep your eyes open.

An excellent ride at Sunrise and the end of the day. Fantastick views of both the Green Mountains and the High Peaks of the Adirondack's. This is a high traffic route, avoid rush hours. There is a mile climb of gentle 3% grade to the scenic area. after that the terrian is very easy.

Route starts with skyline views along Mt. Philo Rd and then turns to the East returning past Charlotte and Shelburne Beach though open countryside. A stop a the Shelburne Vineyard tasting room is an option at the end.

Link to the Burlington Waterfront Path and the Path. to UVM via Rt. 7 (Shelburne Rd). Traffic is very high but most of the route has excellent bike likes and crosswalks with manual controls. Sidewalks are available at the North end where there are no bike lanes. Round trip just under 10 miles
