"Pedal" No'th Brah: Boca to Reef Road bobby_fishtrunks Jan 10th 2011, 01:54 97.8km
This is an A1A 60 miler... a reason to go to Reef Road when the surf is flat... (and preferably when there is no wind!) As far as scenic, flat road routes go, this is probably one of the most beautiful treks you can ride in South Florida. There are bike lanes perhaps 50 percent of the way, and you will be amazed by some of the coastal vistas. The whole route is pretty bike-friendly meaning you are surrounded by cyclists the whole way. Getting up to West Palm Beach is pretty cool, you'll ride by some serious landed estates including the historic Breakers Hotel... Reef Road is a small landmark, well, its really only a street sign, but it is one of the best surf breaks in all of Florida.

Hold Your Water: A Trip to Loxahatchee Water Preserve bobby_fishtrunks Dec 23rd 2010, 08:16 60.3km
Okay so this is a pretty successful route with about 80% bike lane available. Departing FAU, there is an initial hill at the Glades overpass. Jog Road has an average shoulder the whole way to Atlantic Ave. Heading west on Atlantic I have to say thats a bit tight as in absolutely no shoulder and you are riding on a two-lane road with trucks and fast traffic, this occurs after the turnpike (underpass). 441 has a bike lane. The Loxahatchee Preserve on 120th says its $1 for pedestrians but I didn't stop/pay...maybe because it was early a.m.? Boynton Beach Blvd has a really cool rough asphalt section that is almost like cobbles about a mile or two before it intersects with Jog road. There is no overpass hill on Boynton. Fun and somewhat easy if there is no wind.
Tombstonin' Lake Worth Loop bobby_fishtrunks Dec 20th 2010, 12:43 74.6km
Another Boca Raton-Lake Worth Loop. I wanted to feel my way through the Delray area on the return and have to say I sort've boned it...the whole trek is pretty fun to Lake Worth, but the return trip winds were pounding. I tried to travel west on Atlantic and found myself on SW 8th passing the Pine Ridge Cemetery (boogiddy-boogiddy) hehehe. Anyway, that part of the route should be ignored, there is NO shoulder on SW 8th Ave. Further on, S. Dixie Hwy between Delray and Boca is a two lane route with no shoulder as well. People like to speed on that road and they use it to avoid cops on US1. Doesn't really bother me, but if you don't like "old school" in-lane cycling you may want to avoid that stretch.

Palmetto to Longboat Key, Fl colobikenut Dec 6th 2010, 07:57 50.6km
A pretty nice ride through a heavily congested area onto Anna Marie Island and Longboat Key. The entire route is over either quiet streets or roads with bike lanes.
Withlacoochee State Trail to Suncoast Trail, FL connector colobikenut Dec 6th 2010, 07:42 31.6km
My wife and I rode this route in the Fall of 2010 as part of a multi-state tour. It allowed us to connect from the Withlacoochee State Trail to the Suncoast Trail. The route is mainly rural and crosses horse country. A really pleasant place to ride.
Suncoast Trail to Pinellas Trail, FL connector colobikenut Dec 6th 2010, 07:40 25.3km
My wife and I rode this route in the Fall of 2010 as part of a multi-state tour. This allowed us to connect from the Suncoast Trail to the Pinellas Trail. The route is urban/suburban with a good deal of traffic. There are decent shoulders from the exit off the Suncoast Trail to CR 582. From there into Tarpon Springs there are no shoulders and a lot of traffic. However, CR 582 was undergoing a widening project when we rode it so it is possible the finished roadway will have a shoulder. Nevertheless, be careful when riding that section in particular.
High Springs to Dunnellon, FL colobikenut Dec 6th 2010, 03:47 100.9km
My wife and I rode this route in the Fall of 2010 as part of a multi-state tour. From High Springs south to the Marion County line (about 10 miles north of Dunnellon), US 41 has a good shoulder and runs through mostly rural areas with little traffic. The shoulder disappears at the Marion County line and the traffic picks up significantly, so be careful and you may want to consider alternate routes into Dunnellon. Just south of Dunnellon you can pick up the Withlacoochee State Trail to go further south.
Tallahassee to Monticello, FL colobikenut Dec 6th 2010, 03:43 47.1km
This is a more direct, and very quiet and scenic, alternative to the ACA Southern Tier route.
Live Oak to High Springs, FL colobikenut Dec 6th 2010, 01:23 87.3km
My wife and I rode this route in the Fall of 2010 as part of a multi-state tour. This route uses much of the ACA Southern Tier route, but is more direct.
