| After the second rest day in Pau, the riders will set out for their final mountain battle. Following the Col de Marie-Blanque (1, 1035m) climb, we will head back down into the valley. After only three kilometres of flat, we will immediately get to grips with the Col du Soulor (1, 1474m), a long, long, long climb, almost 25-kilometres long! The Aubisque pass is just next to it, then the riders will head down before tackling the Col du Tourmalet (HC, 2115m). At the highest point of this Tour, the Henri-Desgrange memorial trophy will be awarded. | |||||

| Today the riders will have to tackle Col de Peyresourde (1, 1569m) from the start, Col d'Aspin (1, 1490m), Col du Tourmalet (HC, 2115m) and Col d'Aubisque (HC, 1709m), with the Aubisque pass some 60 kilometres from the finishing line, although the first 30 kilometres is descent before getting to grips with the valley bottom. It is the same route (except that the stage finish was in Mourenx) as in 1969 when Eddy Merckx was victorious after a 180-kilometre breakaway. | |||||
