| This is my standard commute, to and from work in summer, to work in winter (greenway is too dark for riding at night on way home). Is about 90% greenway, except one small stretch of road that avoids the zig-zaggy greenway in Watertown. |

| This route is mostly flat and car-free and is 5 miles so it should take less than an hour at a very leisurely pace. A leisurely walker will cover a mile in 30 minutes and a brisk one will walk 3 miles per hour, so 5 miles per hour is not a very fast pace for a bike. To avoid tire punctures, ensure that your tires are well inflated, and if possible use puncture resistant tires. Otherwise, bikes can go a long way without ending up with a problem. If you ride this roundtrip, you'll get in an hour and a half of light exercise without working up a sweat. |
