To go from Yodogawa to Yamatogawa through Osaka by the Ogawa, Negawa and Hiranogawa. You can take the Yodogawa to theKizugawa or the Katsuragawa and can get to Nara-city or Arashiyama Kyoto. http://www.kancycling.com/Destinations/Kyoto-Nara/Kyoto-Nara.html has great map information. Kyoto-Hachiman-Kizu Jitenshado. http://www.mlit.go.jp/road/road/bicycle/road/index.html has the Ishikawa river map in Japanese. And other cycling routes in Japan. Also if you can go to Koyasan if you look at my other route:http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Ishikawa-Kawachinagano-Takehata-Koyasan

This road route follows a river up to Naguri Dam. You can ride one or both ways if you have a foldable bike because there is a bus service from Hanno Station (#01-1). The main road on the north side of the river is narrow and busy, so I prefer using the southern road where it exists. Japanese drivers are very considerate though. There are toilets, camping, picnic and rest spots along the way. The upper part of the valley is very scenic. There are vending machines along the route, as well as some nice places to eat along the river, evident if you follow the main (north) road up the valley.

This is a semi-rural route along an Outer Tokyo ring road. Its not scenic but allows you the opportunity to ride without the disruption by urban traffic. There are plenty of shops and vending machines along the route.
