Sydney Park is where a the City of Sydney Bicycle Courses are held. This is a fairly easy route to follow. On not-very-busy roads. Not too steep.

New (Nov 2009) route on west side of The Spit. Three short but very steep (definitely much > 7%) sections. Adds ~1.5km to the trip compared to Parriwi Rd if starting from the Eastern Side of Manly Road.

Gladesville Bridge is a horror for cyclists. This is a description of how to get over Gladesville Bridge from Linley Point whilst staying on paths. This route requires you to ride over a couple of short stretches of (bumpy) grass. It's not a particularly easy route, and it is quite frustrating, but it's one I sometimes take if the traffic is unpleasant. Use the 'satellite' view at high zoom to see where the paths are.
