Sugarloaf mtn loop |

| this is a very nice and fairly difficult loop around sugarloaf mtn. West Williard is a very nice rd, especially after yu have been on river rd. for a while. Big Woods rd. is my favorite rd. in the world. It has a long, mild descent through farms and trees. Instead of going straight to sugarloaf i like to take a detour to park mills rd. which is a nice rd with a brutal climb in the middle (10-15% for about 3/4 of a mile). Old Hundred Rd. also has some brutal climbs on it. Sugarloaf Mtn. is a great climb with switchbacks and great views from the top. Going back, peach tree is a very nice rd with a great fruit stand at the end where I always get an apple from the nearby orchard. Darnestown rd can get quite busy so you should try to get off it as quickly as possible (its actually not that bad) but its definetely worth it b/c berryville rd is awesome with a great climb towards the end. Another good thing about this route is you can start from nearly anywhere in the area and reach river rd. I come from my house which is about 15 miles away from the start |
