| This day's leg of the journey leaves the Blue Ridge behind and traverses the Piedmont. There is a gradual ascent for the first sixteen miles with a climb of about 600 feet. After 45 miles, the route descends to about 150 feet above sea level. The journey also includes a span through the center of Baltimore. The day's journey does not require traveling on any Interstate Highways. If you follow this itinerary, you do so at your own risk. Failure to exercise good judgment can result in traffic violation citations, injury and even death. If in doubt, please consult with state and local law enforcement agencies. |

| A 67 mile variation on the PPTC route, Antietam Scout, that is improved by wandering through the battle field, whereas the club ride oddly skips Antietam by staying on the main road. The ride starts and ends at the Urbana Maryland park and ride, which is just off the Urbana exit from route 270. There is a great coffee shop at mile 19.9 in Middletown and a market at mile 37.3 in Sharpsburg. Note that, at around mile 55, Mountville road crosses a busy route 15 at a traffic light that is at the bottom of a fast descent. (thanks to brandolph!) |

| Hilly metric century from Frederick, MD. These are some of my favorite roads and hills. Be especially careful on the descent of Highland School road, remembering that there can be deer, oncoming cars, and occasional gravel on the pavement. There are stores at mile 18.6 (in Wolfsville) and mile 45 (a Sheetz in Thurmont just east of route 15) (thanks to B. Randolph!) |
