A 42 mile loop ride. Virtually the entire route is over roads with bike lanes (including the sidewalks across the drawbridges between Longboat Key and Bradenton Beach and on Manatee Avenue) or through quiet residential areas. For a congested coastal area this is about as good as it gets.

My wife and I rode this route in the Spring of 2009 as part of a cross-country tour. It deviates from the ACA TransAm route at Rush Center, KS and ends at the western entrance to the Katy Trail. The latter, which can be easily ridden with road bikes even though it is unpaved, goes across Missouri into St. Louis. This route is mostly flat and the traffic volume is generally light.
