Route runs spring to fall, starting after the time change, at 6:30 from Bike South at the intersection of N. Decatur and Clairmont roads. This version cuts off the tail end (which takes East Lake to Ridgecrest to McLendon to Clifton, then toward Emory) because our house is before all that.

Goes south and east from Va-Hi, and features no shortage of climbing at 2000+ feet in 33 miles. A few gems (for scenery and curves) include Brannen, Whites Mill, and Porter roads. Of the 33 miles, two would be considered at all high traffic. Otherwise, a super route with no let-up in scenery, hills, and general swervy-curvy-ness. Very few traffic lights, too.

Purposefully difficult terrain that meanders eastward to Stone Mtn. via Druid Hills, Decatur, and Clarkston, and returns, wiggly-style, via Avondale, the White Oak hills, East Lake C.C., and Oakhurst. Ridden with a group on a Sunday in December 2008. Quite a tough route. Very scenic and fun in parts, too, especially the winding, swerving part on Rupert/Fairlee/Carter south of Memorial there toward the end.

A non-Dekalb Ave. route from Decatur's city-center. It's seven miles to near the CNN center in downtown Atlanta. Utilizes the W. Howard/Dekalb Ave. PATH route and the long on-street bike-lane on Edgewood Ave. And, by Atlanta standards, this is a flat route -- just over 300 feet elevation gain each way.

Starting in Oakhurst, takes the PATH to the Piedmont Park then winds the hilly way just south of I-20 before shooting north, catching White Oak, Avondale, Scottdale, Bike South (reverse) route, and Superior to Decatur. It's 41 miles, and built for the attention-deficit types among us.

Perhaps the silliest climb to attempt out by Lake Chatuge. Is steep at first, then gets *incredibly* steep for a bit before "leveling"-off to a 16-percent average climb in 1.2 miles. The lack of switchbacks is a clue to the absurdity.

Jack Honderd's fine mid-day route, which is ridden fall and spring while the weather's nice. Includes a half mile extension at the mountain ("Tour of Belgium") and about the same amount in Avondale ("Tour of Flanders"). Departs 11 a.m. every Wednesday 'til June.

Heading left, west, where we usually don't gives us a fun trip down Rex Rd. to Forest Park and yet another hidden gem in Forest Park Rd., which comes with scenery, even.

Route from near East Lake MARTA. Involves one bit of hike-a-bike and about 15 minutes of busy-road (Snapfinger) riding. Otherwise, a fine longer, out-of-ordinary Stone Mtn. journey.

Have yet to actually do this whole route in one go. All sections are do-able, even with the busy streets down by Snapfinger. Otherwise, the usual ATL hills and dales make things strenuous.

Route I rode about 100 times when I was in Michi-land. Every imaginable scenery--city stuff in Ypsi; EMU's campus cut-through; the rail-trail before Hewitt; a four-laner suburban-style jaunt past WCC; Gallup Park's serenity; A2's northside streets; hilly neighborhoods of the westside; Huron River Drive's sweet curves and water; Dexter's small-townies; farms and deer and foxes onward toward Chelsea; and then do it all in reverse. It was a predictable two-hour-forty-minute round trip of 55 miles.

Tried to work out a consistent weekday (or nite) route. Here, there's a fair amount of stop-and-go until McAfee. A couple "gems" here are Porter Rd. (east) and the triple-bummer up White Oak. It's a fun route.

A pretty long, hilly route to the southeast that we rode in July. It was hard. Fun, but hard. And, there are *super* scenic bits down there, country-ward.
