| Stone Mountain of the Weird Way | barryhall | Apr 7th 2009, 01:08 | 87.1km |
| Heads south to great hills and dales before zagging east before the left turn toward the mountain. | |||||
| Yet Another South and East Weekday Ride | barryhall | Jan 29th 2011, 10:57 | 57.9km |
| Covering some great (and hilly) roads south of I-20 and inside the perimeter east, this ride truly has it all. The part from Moreland Ave. to Clifton Church Rd. is particularly nice and memorable for its curves and swooping hills, both down and up. Not the hilliest, at 2300 feet ascended in 36 miles, but some of the hills in there . . . brutes. Glendale Rd. north of N. Decatur, for instance. | |||||
| Arabia/Panola return extension | barryhall | Apr 25th 2009, 02:58 | 37.6km |
| Heading left, west, where we usually don't gives us a fun trip down Rex Rd. to Forest Park and yet another hidden gem in Forest Park Rd., which comes with scenery, even. | |||||
| Arabia/Panola, the second | barryhall | May 8th 2010, 04:22 | 94.6km |
| Virginia-Highland east; then south to Arabia and Panola parks; and returning via Fairview/Flakes Mill with a northwest jog before crossing I-20. Very pretty riding for the middle third. Around 3000 feet of climbing. Feels like more. Best bits are the sweeping downhill on Singer Way, the parks' nature, Alexanders Lake road's sweet climbs, and the hidden gem Brannen Rd. | |||||
| Hilly Weekend Route | barryhall | Mar 13th 2010, 01:24 | 93.8km |
| Purposefully difficult terrain that meanders eastward to Stone Mtn. via Druid Hills, Decatur, and Clarkston, and returns, wiggly-style, via Avondale, the White Oak hills, East Lake C.C., and Oakhurst. Ridden with a group on a Sunday in December 2008. Quite a tough route. Very scenic and fun in parts, too, especially the winding, swerving part on Rupert/Fairlee/Carter south of Memorial there toward the end. | |||||
| Eastside Ramble | barryhall | Mar 14th 2010, 02:11 | 53km |
| Goes south and east from Va-Hi, and features no shortage of climbing at 2000+ feet in 33 miles. A few gems (for scenery and curves) include Brannen, Whites Mill, and Porter roads. Of the 33 miles, two would be considered at all high traffic. Otherwise, a super route with no let-up in scenery, hills, and general swervy-curvy-ness. Very few traffic lights, too. | |||||
| Inner Perimeter Sanctum of Doom | barryhall | Dec 9th 2008, 04:21 | 49.3km |
| Tried to work out a consistent weekday (or nite) route. Here, there's a fair amount of stop-and-go until McAfee. A couple "gems" here are Porter Rd. (east) and the triple-bummer up White Oak. It's a fun route. | |||||
| Arabia/Panola scenic extension | barryhall | Sep 11th 2008, 04:05 | 9.8km |
| Winding, fun extension to usual Arabia/Panola route | |||||
| Stone Mountain, long route | barryhall | Mar 27th 2009, 09:23 | 83.3km |
| Have yet to actually do this whole route in one go. All sections are do-able, even with the busy streets down by Snapfinger. Otherwise, the usual ATL hills and dales make things strenuous. | |||||
| Quad County Return Extension | barryhall | Aug 1st 2008, 07:04 | 31.3km |
| Super-long way to Stone Mtn. | barryhall | Apr 2nd 2009, 01:22 | 65.1km |
| Route from near East Lake MARTA. Involves one bit of hike-a-bike and about 15 minutes of busy-road (Snapfinger) riding. Otherwise, a fine longer, out-of-ordinary Stone Mtn. journey. | |||||
| Bike South Tuesday Ride | barryhall | Apr 22nd 2010, 03:20 | 39.8km |
| Route runs spring to fall, starting after the time change, at 6:30 from Bike South at the intersection of N. Decatur and Clairmont roads. This version cuts off the tail end (which takes East Lake to Ridgecrest to McLendon to Clifton, then toward Emory) because our house is before all that. | |||||
| Circle of Death from Aurora Coffee | barryhall | Dec 1st 2008, 02:52 | 134.1km |
| A pretty long, hilly route to the southeast that we rode in July. It was hard. Fun, but hard. And, there are *super* scenic bits down there, country-ward. | |||||
| New way to or from Quad County | barryhall | Feb 19th 2009, 09:53 | 25.7km |
| addendum to Quad County route that avoids doubling-up on Bouldercrest while hitting some great roads | |||||
| Riverdale-Jonesboro-o-rama | barryhall | Jul 2nd 2008, 03:16 | 85.8km |
| Outbound on the airport ride and return via Riverdale, Jonesboro, Forest Park, Brown's Mill Rd., Grant Park, and N. Highland | |||||
| Ypsi-Chelsea-Ypsi | barryhall | Dec 15th 2008, 02:15 | 43.8km |
| Route I rode about 100 times when I was in Michi-land. Every imaginable scenery--city stuff in Ypsi; EMU's campus cut-through; the rail-trail before Hewitt; a four-laner suburban-style jaunt past WCC; Gallup Park's serenity; A2's northside streets; hilly neighborhoods of the westside; Huron River Drive's sweet curves and water; Dexter's small-townies; farms and deer and foxes onward toward Chelsea; and then do it all in reverse. It was a predictable two-hour-forty-minute round trip of 55 miles. | |||||
| College Park MARTA to Silk Sheets | barryhall | Sep 27th 2009, 01:52 | 97.1km |
| Six Flags to Fairburn | barryhall | Feb 12th 2009, 04:11 | 122.4km |
| Jacks Nickajack, plus | barryhall | Dec 1st 2008, 02:49 | 90.3km |
| Addition to Jack H's (very nice) route way west and north of town. Pretty stinkin hilly out north-ways. | |||||
| Aurora Coffee to Fairburn and back | barryhall | Jul 2nd 2008, 03:14 | 103.1km | ||
| Waterloo loop, with return extension | barryhall | Jul 2nd 2008, 03:16 | 91.4km | ||
| South-Side Revenge | barryhall | Dec 1st 2008, 02:45 | 50.2km | ||
| Route I created when first in ATL. Not terribly hilly. Does get some decent steady riding in, while visiting nearly every demographic neighborhood east of town. | |||||
| 110 minutes of intown hills | barryhall | May 11th 2010, 02:54 | 52.7km |
| An intentionally hilly, in-town circle that weaves all over and aims for small-ring leg busters. Highlights: Houston Mill hill; Coventry; blasting down Ormewood Ave.; Hillpine; and a hidden "gem" in Ansley Park. | |||||
