| Follow the Kayderosseras Creek from Saratoga Lake to Source on Angel Road
The Kayaderosseras Creek is the largest river that lies completely within Saratoga County. It originates in the Kayaderosseras Mountain range in the northern part of the county, and passes through the the towns of Corinth, Greenfield, and Milton, the Village of Ballston Spa, the town of Malta, and borders on the City of Saratoga Springs, before emptying into Saratoga Lake. The name means, "the valley of the crooked stream." There were a dozen paper mills along the creek in the late 1800's. There was a 12 mile long electric trolley railroad serving the area from 1898 to 1929 from Ballston Spa to Rock City Falls. | I contacted the Hudson River Railroad, They will allow bikes on the tourist train. this could be a great bike activity. follow this link for details, it will leave Saratoga about 10 am, $13 one way coach, $19 roundtrip...Dome car is more expensive.
www.sncrr.com.
I believe that the trip is about 59 miles.... It could be a great day excursion, for cyclists, to ride the train up, and cycle back. Following the river back to corinth, then down 9N , is not too hilly. |
