Out to Woodbury and up over Common, passing through Yettington. Turn left at Obelisk, to Colyton Raleigh. Pass through Newton Pop via Dotton, through Harpford, Tipton, round to West Hill, up and over to Aylesbeare down great hill, with views across to aiport and beyond. Pass airport, through Clyst Honiton, into Exeter and return to start via Pinhoe. Mix of some busy roads but more generally quite rural roads, several good climbs.

Expert Ride. Dartmoor is renowned for the challenging nature of its terrain. The effort required to climb steeply to well over 300m several times on this ride is well worth it though - the roads are largely quiet and the scenery exquisite, and the towns and villages you pass through en route have a typical country charm. Unless a masochist, you should take a triple or a compact! Bike Shops: The Bike Shed, Exeter 01392 426191; Bikus, Bovey Tracey 01626 833444. www.exeter.gov.uk/visiting.

Starts with sone very narrow country lanes and short sharp hills. Finishes with some good fast roads, but pretty relentless hills! Nice scenic route.

fantastic day out, could be extended by going right at Sandy way and descending to N Molton, S Molton, Bishops Nympton, and on the B3227 back to Black Cat Another extension could be from Simonsbath, to go West on the B3358 joining the A339, going south and picking up the L turn to Leaworthy and so to Shoulsbarrow Common-simply stunning
