| Using Clematis and St. Anthony on the way to or from UNO provides a better lit, lower traffic, and overall safer ride between Lakefront and the Marigny. Crossing Elysian Fields and Gentilly during high-traffic times can be tricky, as is passing under the interstate near the Franklin bridge. Late at night the pedestrian bridge is actually less safe than just powering over the Franklin bridge, as there are very few ways to avoid people who are lurking on the footbridge itself or at either end of the footbridge. Sticking to a major street such as Magazine is a good way to get Uptown, but the traffic varies. On the other hand, they're generally well lit and St. Charles is very wide. Constance (or maybe it's Laurel, I can't remember offhand) has recently been repaved, and can get you all the way to Napoleon for a very smooth, low-traffic ride. There are very few terrible ways to get through the French Quarter, but for the CBD I would select a fairly large street and go with the correct flow of traffic. | |||||
