| Day Trip! Get out of the city and enjoy some quiet trails. Plenty of chances for return on Metra trains. Lots of services along the route- food, beverage, etc. Great parks for resting, picnics. Take your time and enjoy the scenery. Use your favorite streets in Chicago to reach Augusta (1000 N). Follow Augusta West into Oak Park (taking Augusta at night not advised). A signed route will be provided in Oak Park. After that the trail is well marked and you shouldn't need additional directions. Trail crosses Glen Ellyn, College Ave and Wheton Metra stations on UPW line. You'll also have a chance to come back at Elgin (MD-W train) or Crystal Lake (UP-NW train). Consult metrarail.com for bicycle policies- bikes are not permitted on all trains. Print out schedules for return trains for reference during your trip. Lights necessary for travel after dark on trails. | |||||

| Windy City to Music City! This trip took us 7 days. Check out the cues i've provided directions & tips for you. Road conditions were ideal in most areas, and acceptable at minimum. Evansville-KY bridge was a bit stressful but you'll survive! | |||||

| I used this route a few years ago. M-52 has a large paved shoulder! M-43 (Gd. River) was fine. The only bad part is a stretch of N. Territorial Road. Be conscious of blind spots when going around curves/hills. Go against traffic when traffic coming from behind can't see you. | |||||
