The first few miles from Dover to Sandpoint, to Boyer, are on a bike path. Boyer to Schweitzer Cutoff Road is mostly a bike lane. After that, it's fairly narrow shoulders and the climb itself has no shoulders, but very little traffic. The grade of the slope is between 3 and 8 percent according to my computer. The climb itself on Schweitzer Mtn. Road is almost exactly 9 miles with about 2400 feet of climbing. You'll be coming back down from the end point, which makes the ride longer.

We only rode to the end point and turned around but the road goes on for quite some time. I hope to re-ride it and get a better sense of the road, but it's worth a go. Traffic volume was higher than expected for a narrow rural road for the first few miles, but not dangerous in anyway I could see.

There's a 3.5-mile stretch of dirt just before mile 16, but it's well maintained. Riding further south to Oldtown/Newport should add about 10-15 miles to the loop.

the road is mostly dirt and rather rough in points, but beautifully scenic. Maybe half of the route is paved. The length of the route is only from one part of highway 200 to another that comes out a couple of miles down the highway.

Very little riding in Spokane itself. Some parts follow Hangman Creek, others, after the switchback climb, through rolling wheat fields.

The route isn't quite accurate as the Burke Gilman trail doesn't always show on the map.
