HHow we rode down the East side of the River in 2009 -- visiting pretty views of the Hudson river on the way south thru Westchester county. across the GWB into New Jersey, north + west thru Bergen county to Saddle River. Route tries to mostly select quieter roads. It's one stage of a loop north thru the Seven Lakes to Bear Mountain, then along the Hudson River south back to the GWB. The full loop is about 100 miles and hilly. It is the great (non-train-supported) bicycling adventure from New York City -- lakes with islands, river views, mountain views, classic descents.
