Very scenic route with a charming rural bypass around the county seat. The last leg of this ride is up a whopping-steep ascent. Locals were not a problem, though the highway was very busy and narrow in some spots.

Easy pretty ride through the high Cascade plains. Locals around Burney don't like bikes. High headwinds pick up about Noon and make riding westward very difficult.

This route begins in L-C on US12, bypasses Walla Walla, follows RS22 from Kennewick to Toppenish, snakes up US97 to Goldendale, transfering to SR142 towards Hood River, and then SR14 following the Columbia River to PDX metro. Terminates at Waterfront Part in downtown Portland. This is about the most direct route for bicycle.

Completed in one long day: Big decent followed with huge ascent, and a few smaller ones through jaw-dropping beauty until Nevada City: Locals were fine and traffic was light. However this all changed going forward with high traffic. Some detours where I got lost are noted. Almost the entire ARBT was completed in pitch dark with one low-powered helmet lamp.

Errands in Seattle: A circuitous route across Lake-WA to University/Greenlake, then over the top and back to Redmond. Some hills, especially Simonds Rd were challenging. Completed in just under 2 hours on my ebike in heavy nasty winter traffic.
