| A very scenic metric century route with some stiff climbs and not a lot of flat roads! Start from Spring Wood picnic centre car park above Whalley, on the A671. Cafes at Slaidburn (52 km) and Chipping (72 km). Shops at Whalley at the start and finish. |

| Start from Spring Wood picnic centre, Whalley, near Blackburn. It is a little bit lumpy at the start and finish but there is a long flat section in the middle in the Fylde and Wyre districts so this is very fixed wheel and singlespeed-friendly. Outward leg through Walker Fold north of Longridge Fell. Ride to Elswick where you can buy an ice cream (or other snack) at Bonds and the route calls in at Scorton where there are at least 2 cafes. Shops at Longridge on the way back if you need them. Continue through Ribchester back to Whalley. |

| A route that I designed to get me from my parents' house in Coventry to my home in Hebden Bridge. I chose the quietest roads I could (within reason) and was not afraid to take on some big, steep hills on the way such as Snake Pass and Holme Moss. Be warned - there is a bottleneck at the tiny bridge over the River Trent at Barton-under-Needwood as I discovered to my cost! There is a school nearby and it is a nightmare when the school opens/closes for the day - avoid at those times!!! |

| A testing hilly route from Hebden Bridge to the southern fringes of the Yorkshire Dales and back. You could stop at The Dalesman cafe in Gargrave after 40 km, Calm Slate farm (Yorkshire Dales ice cream parlour and cafe) at 59 km, just before Halton East, or at Bolton Abbey at 62 km. If your legs are getting tired by the time you get to Steeton, you can take an easier route back to Hebden Bridge via Keighley and Cross Roads. |

| This is a metric century ride (100 km) from Meriden, near Birmingham. I have plotted it as another CycleChat forum ride, but it would be a nice training ride for those of you in the area who like to get away from traffic as much as possible, and who like the odd little hill thrown in. I haven't yet worked out where the local cafes are, but I know that there are shops in Polesworth that you could use at about the 60km point. This isn't a quick route because it twists and turns round some narrow country lanes but it is the kind of ride I enjoy. I know that some of you out there prefer tearing up and main roads - this one isn't for you! ;) |

| The two main long stay car parks in Hebden Bridge are within the loop shown. One currently charges 40p/hr and the other 60p/hr so try the Market Place one first! They are shut from Tuesday evenings to Thursday evenings for the local market. Arrive before 10:00 PM if you want a place - they fill up early! |

| A tough half century ride with some steep ascents and descents which you need to take care on. There is a Post Office shop in Cononley where you can buy supplies. Possible refreshment stops: Black Lane Ends pub (great views from tables outside), cafe at Wycoller (just off the route before Trawden) or Coldwell Activity centre cafe. A killer climb at Thursden is followed by an easy, scenic ride back to Hebden Bridge. |

| Another CycleChat forum ride route. The outward leg features some tough climbing including the Nick o'Pendle from Sabden. There is a cafe stop at Country Kitchen, Waddington after 36 miles. The return leg takes in a stretch of the Padiham Greenway but if you prefer to, just head through Padiham and get straight on the A646 rather than joining it at Rose Grove. Once you get to Cliviger Gorge you have a nice quick run down into Todmorden then back to Hebden Bridge. |

It is a strenuous 112 kms (70 miles) with about 1,750 m (5,750 ft) of ascent spread over 6 main climbs, some of which are very steep. Watch out for sheep and tourist traffic on the descents! Cafe stop at Scorton halfway round, and also possible at Dunsop Bridge and Waddington. You'll like this one if you are fit enough to tackle it! |

| A 22 mile loop from Hebden Bridge taking in Blackstone Edge from the Littleborough side. I've put in 3 diversions from the main valley roads. If you avoid them and stick to the A- roads, the loop is near enough 20 miles and a good test to try and do in an hour! (My best so far is 1 hr 9 mins). I like the diversions up through Mankinholes, Calderbrook and the Old Blackstone Edge Road. Watch out for road closed signs and a damaged road surface on the Calderbrook road. The road has slipped and is closed to motor vehicles but I've always been able to get through on my bike. Take care, especially if you do the loop in the opposite direction - the road surface drops away suddenly! |

| An almost flat imperial century (actually 101 miles) route from Spring Wood picnic centre above Whalley to the west coast and back. It has a few small lumpy hills at the beginning and end but is pretty much as flat as you can sensibly get in this area. You need to catch the ferry from Fleetwood across to Knott End, currently £2 for a rider+bike. Call 07793 270 934 to check the running times of the ferry. (NB It may not run in bad weather.) Ice creams available on your left at Bonds on Bonds Lane, Elswick, plenty of shops and cafes along the coast and there is a good cyclists' cafe at Scorton after 76 miles. |

| This is a hard, scenic loop from Hebden Bridge. Make extra sure your bike is in good condition for this one because the steep ascents and descents will soon find any weakness in you or your bike!
If you want a cafe stop, call in at the tearooms on the top floor of Moor Lodge, Scar Top (see http://www.scartop.com/moorlodge.htm) on your left after about 32 miles.
This is a 50 mile route, but if your legs are already shot on the climb back out of Oxenhope, you can ignore the left turn up the killer climb and take an 8 mile shortcut back to Hebden Bridge over Cock Hill. Many cyclists take that option! ;-)
Please note - if you do the full route, there is a half mile stretch of tatty unmade road which is potholed and gravelly. It's passable with care on a road bike. Just watch where you are riding and don't go too fast. |
