//header Stonor //strap Distance: 43.3km (26.9 miles) Total climb: 1,200m Time: 2.5-5hrs Start/finish: grid ref SU736/884 or postcode RG9 6 Maps: OS Landramnger 175: Reading & Windsor Route summary: A relentless ride, with 5 big climbs and descents there is little time to rest, with plenty of exciting singletrack throughout 1 Go north on the B480, then right 300m after the road on right, off-road and uphill. Go 3km to top (Christmas Common), left on road then right at T-junction. Go right at the junction then left on bridleway, downhill, right on ridgeway/bridleway. Go 3km to tarmac and turn right - the track will become off-road and uphill. 2 Take the left by the road at top, go right at picnic tables and left on the road, joining bridleway on right where roadside barrier starts (before M40). Go downhill, keep right, over tarmac at bottom, then uphill before turning right on the road and then join the bridleway into woods (on the right). 3 Go right before exiting the woods, take the steep downhill, exit woods and turn left along valley bottom, along a bridleway. Cross the tarmac, head uphill, keep left uphill on tarmac to Northend. Go straight ahead then left on road to Turville Heath. 4 Take the left at a fork then left at the crossroads, but immediately left on bridleway into trees and across the common to a bridleway between houses straight ahead. Continue downhill to a road and go right, join a bridleway alongside on left and eventually join the road to Turville. 5 Go right in the centre, between houses, through fields to a road and go left, then right on forest track, on left hand corner. Keep straight ahead, uphill, ignore permissive bridleway, to road past Kimble farm and go right. 6 Keep left at the junction and go straight ahead off-road after 1km, as the road turns left, go right on bridleway after 100m (it's easy to miss so keep an eye out), steep downhill. Go right on the road then left (Maidensgrove) uphill, and right on the bridleway, crossing before the top. 7 Follow white arrows downhill then uphill on field edge and go left at the top on bridleway in the trees, keeping straight ahead. Through a farmyard, join doubletrack to Russell Water (pond) and go left on road then shortly right on bridleway (by the green). 8 Go left at and along the valley bottom, past the nature reserve, joining tarmac, and going left after 1km on bridleway uphill. Go right at top, the downhill to and left on road, back to Stonor.
