| Start at Ballan station, end at Bacchus Marsh Station. Watch that C141 route with the trucks and buses (quite courteous but a narrow road). Almost 80% of the road through the ranges is paved except notably for one steep decent that is unpaved and bumpy. Very little forest traffic. | |||||

| A mostly on-road, mostly low-traffic, mostly downhill (even if subtle much of the time) day ride. Slow down and enjoy a section through the Brisbane Ranges National Park, and the historic, near ghost town, Steglitz. Take lunch, there's no food or water after Ballan until Anakie.
