2006 Bianchi San Lorenzo
Fully kitted with a 20 speed Dura Ace groupset, Bianchi brings us the San Lorenzo to top out their street/race range for 2006. In that delightful aqua color scheme, naturally.
Bianchi has again resisted the full carbon frame for this model, presumably under the assumption that their customers are more interested in riding than cafe-racing. It's nice to see against the current trend toward ever more negligible weight-savings.

Bianchi say:
“For the racer who prefers the classic look and fit of a horizontal top tube, this oversize, variable-shaped, triple-butted Scandium frame is one of the lightest on the market.”
An honest aluminium frame holds up a bike full of range-topping Dura Ace and Mavic components to bring a very light and fast ride.
Plus it's likely handle the odd crash better than the full carbon exotica that dominates the top end of the road bike market.

“I bought my San Lorenzo used on EBAY. Fully outfitted with All dura-ace components and wheels, the bike climbs like a champ and is comfortable on long rides. As others have noted, the frame is light and stiff, and very responsive.”

“The Italian Shelby AC Cobra. You pay for the engine, not the seat. Counterpoint to $4,000 frames loaded with 105s. Frame is incredibly light and stiff, though certainly not as comfortable as the Ti or Carbon framesets. Hotter'n a pistol on the road. It moves. Reacts quickly - twitchy if inexperienced. Don't bother if you want it nice'n easy. Be the first kid on your block not to buy a Trek.
Out of the box the brake cable rattles against bike; (annoying) but easily repairable. ”
