The way points of this bicycle route:
This ride starts at the entrance to Cheseboro and is a fantastic xc loop ride of the area. It is all on fireroads so it is basically non technicnal except for a few steep areas where it is a little loose and rocky. This ride takes you thru Pallo Commado Canyon and up to the 3 highest power lines in the area. We start on the main Cheseboro fireroad and at 1.4 miles we take the trail on the left and start climbing out of Cheseboro Canyon and into Palo Commado. The end of this trail is the beginning of Pallo Commado. Enjoy about 2 miles of gradual uphill in the pretty canyon laced with mature oak trees. At about 4.7 miles begins the serious climbing out of the canyon. For 1.8 miles we climb about 800 feet. Stay on the main fireroad and eventually you will reach Albertsons Motorway. Turn right and enjoy the fantastic views looking into Simi Valley and the hills to the North of it. Just stay on the main fireroad and after climbing another 250 feet we reach the top of a hill at 9.3 miles. Go off the main trail and just climb to the peak and enjoy the view. From here you can see what you just rode and what lies ahead for you. The highest point of the ride is reached shortly at 9.6 miles and 2263 elevation after climbing another 90 feet. This is the highest power line in the area. Now we descend about 420 feet to a nice little area that is shaded which is appreciated if the weather is hot. But alas this does not last long. We descend a little bit and now begins a tough 400 foot climb to the 2nd power line tower. The view from the top is phenominal. In front of you you can see the single tract leading off from Shepherds meadow, Pallo Comado Canyon , Cheseboro Canyon and the final last climb up to the last power line tower. Turn around and you can see what you just rode. If you remember when you were down at the bottom of the last little canyon you saw a single tract on your right. From up here you havce a better view of this single tract weaving through the mountains. This single tract will eventually lead to Las Virgines Canyon. Thats another ride and its a pretty tough single tract to ride. Enjoy the nice descent and at the bottom just stay on the main fireroad and start climbing again. At 14.3 miles we reach a nice place to rest our weary legs and enjoy the view of the surrounding area. This is right below the power line tower. If you got energy you can cllimb another 80 feet to the power line tower. I was too tired to do it on this ride. The worst is over. Just a few little uphills ane enjoy the nice descent. When you reach the next junction turn right and continue descending until you reach Cheseboro Canyon fireroad. Turn left and in another easy 1.3 miles we are back to our vehicles. Total elevation climbing is about 2700 feet. I can't explain the difference between 2700 and the value one gets after processing the data.
