The way points of this bicycle route:
Big carpark opposite pub, useful place to start
Lovely roller coaster section, bit rough surface at times. Widowmaker hill is aptly named, this goes 1in8 then straight up 90 degree left!
Watch for the left hander here, road appears to go straight on down "Dark Lane"
Smithy Lane is very narrow
Well worth a stop at the Red Lion Pub here, it's really nice!
Watch for road crossing, not too great.
This entire stretch (from the last A road crossing) is in the Trent Valley and as flat as a pancake.
Even though it's an A-road it's not that busy.
Take first right in town, by little garage
Small hill comes as bit or relief after flat valley
Up and down, down and up, fantastic stretch on a recumbent trike!
Wheeeeeeee
Pub on X-road looks good, not stopped here yet.
gently climbs out at the end.
Can't see which way the traffic is going here, but it's all downhill (40mph limit) to the river.. Wheeeeeeee
The name gives it away a bit, it's very flat again.
turn Right at the Island.
Gentle but very long downhill
Where most of "the money" went to live when Burton was a thriving brewery town
Sounds dead romantic...
Turn right at the end, around the corner and left out of the village.
Home of the horn dance and loads of pubs.
