The way points of this bicycle route:
Started at Sunrise Bike Shop - a very friendly helpful store in Logan.
last chance to fill water bottles before long climb. bought groceries for dinner too.
camped at Emmigration Campground, forest service park, well water, pit toilets, creek. Campground is just beyond the summit on the way back down.
supposedly you can camp behind Coulder's in Afton or at a campground just outside of town up a canyon but we held out for a RV park in Thayne.
flat grassy rv park on a creek with showers, grocery store a few feet away.
rode from Thayne to Jackson, then decided to enter the park and try to get a site at Jenny Lake. Vistitor's center told us the campground was full so we made a loop on Antelope Flats Rd back to the Gros Ventre campground for the night. We later found out that all the campgrounds in the Tetons and Yellowstone have group hiker/biker sites that are always available, no reservation or early arrival required.
Rode just 20 miles from Gros Ventre to camp at Jenny Lake (beautiful campground) and took a day "off", hiking to Cascade Falls and Cascade Canyon.
Camped at Grant Village - showers, laundry, food, ranger talk. Road thru Teton National Park was great with a nice shoulder; can't say the same for Southern Yellowstone: much road construction, usually no shoulder and plenty of motorhomes towing boats. Can't really recommend it.
Today's ride thru Yellowstone was great! There was a very good shoulder most of the way and the scenery was beautiful. Camped just outside the park in the town of West Yellowstone. There are several campground/Rv parks right in town. Ours felt like quite a rip off at $30/night, but we felt like staying in town to see an IMAX movie and eat out.
