Traffic lights, cross Bourke St, continue along Coward St. The sensor isn't real good at picking up individual bikes, you've got to be right in the middle of the lane. Mascot Station entrance is just north up Bourke St. You can use the footpath along the southern side of Coward St (its a marked bike route) to get to Alexandra Canal, but honestly its mostly useless. Mascot station is just to your right to the north.
Traffic lights at entrance to QCA and QCB. Continue along Coward St. Road surface is a bit lumpy from here to Kent St.
Traffic lights, cross Kent Rd, continue along Coward St. Lookout for potholes.
Veer right off Coward St towards the bike path next to the entrance to Caterair, look for the green painted bike lane. Lookout for traffic coming around the corner and from Caterair.
Path turns left when it reaches Alexandra Canal.
Path goes under the railway. Heavy rain can mean there may be water, there is a one way valve to let it out to the canal. Occasionally some idiot puts bricks here to use as stepping stones through the puddle that can sometimes form after rain. Watch out for people fishing at night and oncoming bikes.
About here there is a gap in the path that can be a trap for narrow tyred bikes. Don't be surprised if you see rabbits here early morning, you might notice their burrows going under the path.
Bolts protrude up from the path adjacent Link Rd. There used to be a bollard there.
Turn right to cross the bridge over Alexandra Canal. Check for cyclists about to overtake you before you turn right, or others exiting the bridge without looking.
Bridge is fenced off to motor vehicles but cyclists and pedestrians have an entry here.
May 2008 The desal pipeline is cutting right across here! So cyclists and peds have lost the (very new!) path around Tempe Reserve. After alot of misinformation from the authorities indicating the path would not be affected, and then fences built across the path, then many people jumping up and down about it, we at least have this alternate route.
23/05/08 A new path and fence now skirts around the desal pipeline construction site. Satellite image doesn't show this yet.
Early Oct 2008 the temporary path to the right is fenced off, continue straight ahead instead.
Path veers to the right, surface is a bit rough.
Through the gap to the right of the gate then immediately left at the carpark.
First right.
Stop sign, continue ahead to Holbeach Ave.
You can get onto the path here, or continue up Holbeach Ave a bit and join it there. Before the desal pipeline blundered through the reserve you could use the quicker path around the north of Tempe Reserve to reach here.
Veer left to entrance onto the path.
Traffic lights, cross Princes Hwy. The Harp Hotel is to your right just up Princes Hwy.
Use the short bit of path to View St.
Follow View St along the northern side of Kendrick Park. The street map view here is a bit innaccurate.
Leave View St, get onto the path. Slow down, the casuarinas drop there leaves here, can make the path slippery.
Right at the path T-intersection, follow the path under the railway.
High tides can cover the path where it passes under the railway. Alternate route is around to the north of Tempe station via steps to Griffiths St, Unwins Bridge Rd and Richardsons Crescent. Lookout for bikes coming the other way, use your bell or horn. Surface can be slippery when wet.
Path finishes, go through Tempe Station carpark.
Traffic light crossing with holding rails. Cross Richardson Cr.
Onto the path then left towards the Cooks River..
Path turns right to follow the Cooks River upstream.
Cross the stormwater channel using the small bridge.
Left just after crossing the bridge.
A combination of very heavy rains and high tides can put this part of the path under water.
Fork in path, keep following the path left upstream along the Cooks River. The other path veers right up the hill to Thornley St.
Path goes under the massive impressive historical Pipeline of Poo.
Wood-fueled BBQs, tables, seating, water and toilets are just north. Cafe is in the sports centre NE.
Route passes through the carpark.
After the carpark the path turns left. Path narrows.
Cross Cooks River using the path on the eastern side of the bridge. On a rising tide pelicans often fish here.
Cross Homer St just after crossing Cooks River. Theres a refuge island in the middle of the road to help you cross. Adora Chocolates is just south of here, great chocolates.
Onto the path then left.
Right and head down the path towards the river.
Watchout for people leaving the footbridge here. Mostly wide concrete path continues around Beaman Park to Wardell Rd.
Path intersection, continue straight ahead.
Path intersection, turn right towards Wardell Rd.
Cross Wardell Rd, use the refuge island and short bit of path to get to Lang Rd.
Right into Lang Rd.
Lang Rd ends. Onto the path and across the bridge. There are some tight turns here, may be a problem for some trikes, tandems or trailers. The bridge can be slippery in the wet.
More tight turns.
Left to follow the path besides the Cooks River.
April 2009 path has recently been reconstructed, rerouted.
Route crosses the end of Foord Ave.
Sand often collects at the bottom of the slope here.
Slow down. Watch out for oncoming cyclists and loose gravel and debri under the footbridge. Seagulls and pelicans often roost here at low tide on the debri in the Cooks River.
Path goes through a dog-off-leash area. I never see too many dogs here, they are normally running off their leash on the other side of the river.
The path get gets very narrow as it passes under Canterbury Road. Some wide trailers, trikes and bikes with very wide handlebars can't get through.
Go left onto Broughton St for a short distance and under the railway bridge.
Left off Broughton St and onto the path besides Cooks River. May 2009 path has been reconstructed, no more tree roots!
Floods can leave alot of debri piled up across the path here.
Path intersection, continue ahead. Bridge to Lindsay St is on your left. The soccer club often has the canteen open on weekends and sometimes a sausage sizzle. Toilets and water are behind the buildings.
Route goes through a carpark.
Toilets, sometimes open.
Turn right before you reach Brighton Ave. Some people prefer to go straight ahead here, jump the kerb, across Brighton Ave then between the club and the river to join up with this route near the oval.
Use the refuge to cross Brighton Ave.
Right onto the path on the western side of Brighton Ave.
Fork in path, veer left away from Brighton Ave to use the path to Rosedale Park.
Path goes left and crosses drain.
Follow path to left around playing field.
Path nears the end of Hampton St. Keep following the path upstream besides the Cooks River.
Fork in the path, veer left.
Use the refuge to cross Burwood Rd.
Just before Lees Ave, turn right, use the path.
Cross Lees Ave using the refuge.
Use the path through Whiddon Reserve. Water bubbler nearby.
Path ends, veer left to use Walsh Rd for a few hundred metres.
Leave Walsh Rd, use the path through Walsh Ave Reserve.
Path goes under Georges River Road.
Follow new path around south edge of carpark. Tennis courts nearby.
Cross Maria St, veer right towards the path on the other side.
Path goes under Water St. Look out for others coming the other way.
Keep following the path upstream. The path to your right leads to Dean Park with playground, water, seating and then Dean St.

Left into Newton Rd.
Cross Pemberton St, continue along Newton Rd.
Left into Barker Rd, head to path and the gap in the noise barriers.
Use short path besides Centenary Drive. Intersection of Weeroona Rd and Centenary Drive is nearby.
Go through the gap in the noise barriers to head away from Centenary Drive.
Leave the path, get onto Mitchell Rd.
Roundabout at intersection with Shortland Ave, continue along Mitchell Rd.
Right into Arthur St at traffic lights.
Left into Hampstead Rd.
Right at the refuge island, head to the path through Melville Reserve.

Path forks, veer left and follow the path next to Bates St.
Leave the path, turn right into The Crescent.
Left into Bridge Rd and follow the bridge over the railway.
Veer left just before reaching Parramatta Rd to get on the footpath just near the car yard.
Cross Parramatta Rd using the traffic lights crossing. Head to the path left of the car yard on the far side of Parramatta Rd.
Get onto Hillcrest St.
Left into Park Rd.
Turn right to use the bridge over the M4. Bollards make it awkward for tandems, trailers and trikes.
Right into Pomeroy St. Bollards here too...
Traffic lights, cross Underwood Rd, continue along Pomeroy St.
Turn left just before Powells Creek canal, use the path on the canals western side.
Path intersection, slow down. Continue straight ahead.
Bridge over canal.
Path goes under Homebush Bay Drive.
Theres a bollard and the path kinks here, slow down, its hard to see oncoming cyclists here.
Left at the path T-intersection.
Cross Strickland Ave.
Veer left and follow the path up the hill.
