The way points of this bicycle route:
This is Rt 1694 AKA Brownsboro Rd
Enjoy the corn fields & horse farms here at Mint Spring farm
This is the back side of the Norton Commons development
enjoy the small brook to the right
The road up the hill can be a bit pocked with bubble gum patches
Neat California Ranch style home on this corner to the right
Watch for cars merging from the left from Springdale Rd.
Take the lane as you approch the stop sign. Full Stop here prior to going right, up the slight hill. Cars coming from Green spring often run the stop.
Light is timed & cross traffic can be heavy. So sit tight & wait for a green light. Excelent time to practice your track stand.
Do give cars a chance to pass on the way down or be fast enough to safely take your lane all the way to the stop sign at the bottom.
Full Stop at sign. Blind corner for cars from the right.
One lane bridge. Take your whole lane as you cross to find the smoothest path. Then move to the right if cars are following.
Note the Masonic lodge on your right. Thomas Jefferson would be proud.
Another track stand opportunity. Or, Stop off at Java Brewing for a snort of Great Joe before blasting on the rest of the route.
Last chance to turn back to 1694 through Covered Bridge Rd. (another route w/ scenary not to be missed).
Approching Henry's Ark. Look for the Peacocks, Emus, Elk and Brahma Bulls. Maybe stop to see Fidel the Camel just in side the gate. He is frendly & probably wont spit at you.
This road will only get narrower as you roll on & a fair number of folks live off this road. So give the cars a chance to pass.
Remember, The mighty Ohio river is not too many yards off to your left.
Rt 1793, cross traffic does not stop. Blind to the right. Save your self, take the time to stop 7 look both ways. You can bail out & head up the hill to Hwy 42 here.
The pavement gets narrow. Let the few cars you encounter pass.
Downshift, the asphalt kicks up a bit. What a picture perfect lane!
You can pick up quite a bit of speed down this stretch. Slow a bit prior to the blind, narrow left curve incase a car is approching opposite. After you do clear the curve keep up your speed to make better way up the short climb just ahead.
Carefull at this intersection.
Note the Goshen General store across the street. & a dentist if you are in need. Watch for the Hwy 42 cross traffic as you cross the Highway.
Mega Abbacus.
Note all the classic Kentucky farms with the four rail fencing. Try to find the sign for a horse farm called Upson on your left. ---Upson Downs---
Rt 1694 will take you back to covered bridge if you turn right here, but keep going anyway. You'll be a better person for it.
Now you get to roll south towards Buckner
You could be Golfing
Full stop if the light is red. The rules of the road apply to bikes too!
Don't let the map fool you. Cedar Point Rd. no longer goes through
Turn here at the soccer fields.
Note the Mower grave yard on your left.
On your left here is a house w/out a back & someone took the front door stairs!
You could peal off to the left on to Zaring Road but today we will hang off to the right into Cedar Point.
This is not the New Cut Road to the southwest of Louisville city center.
No need to check your speed here. Zip around this curve if you dare. Really!
It's Povey Ln. not Poverty Ln.!
It's really not that steep now is it?
Full stop here, be safe.
This is where 1694 would bring you if you took it back at Hwy. 42. Another time...
Again, you could be golfing. Yea right!
What a beautiful place! Almost home.
Back to where you started. Loop around Norton Commons to round off to 40 Mi.
