The way points of this bicycle route:
Traditional Dipping of the Wheels by the C2C sculpture. With back to sea T R & then T L around the Harbourside cafe & T R on to Swingpump Lane. Go past Focus, do not use C2C route here, T L just before "Top Yard" (yellow wall) down Coach Rd and pick up the C2C on your R after Pottery Rd but before The Gardens.
T L on to Coach Rd - pick up the C2C on the R after Pottery Rd but before The Gardens - going down the L side of the sports ground.
Coach Rd entry point to the C2C path - stay on the C2C for the next 21 miles C2C signed.
Heading for Esk Ave & R turn.
R turn onto Esk Avenue then 1/10 mile T R on to C2C path.
T R onto C2C path.
T R over the railway and L on the other side.
Towards the end of Croasedale Ave, T L - 2/10 mile, in to Wasdale Avenue and ahead turn L under the bridge back on the path.
Bear L under Meadow Rd and Mirehouse Rd. Remain on C2C path for 7.5 miles until Sheriffs Gate.
T L here and R in 2/10 mile towards Kirkland.
At Kirland straight across crossroad & T L in 1 m towards Lamplugh & Loweswater
T L heading for Lamplugh
Keep R for Lamplugh & Loweswater
Keep R for Loweswater Lake - turning R in 1.7 miles, at Fangs Brow Farm towards Loweswater.
T R here & L in 2.5 miles - after the lake, but before Loweswater village, heading for Thackthwaite & Low Lorton.
On C2C route
T L heading for Thackthwaite & Low Lorton
Heading for Low Lorton
Bear R, go over the river to the main B5289 junction & T R & immediate L to high Lorton.
R & immediate Left - towards Lorton - heading for the B5292 Whinlatter Pass Rd - head east ( L ).
Go thro the village & T R at the Meadow Bank B&B - upthe hill & T R heading for Braithwaite. Stay on the B5292 to Braithwaite.
Stay on the main road all the way into Braithwaite - 2.1 m.
Go thro the village to the A66 - T R and follow for 1.3 m then T R for Keswick B5289
T R for Keswick - look for the Esso Garage on the R & T L on Crosthwaite Rd & follow signs to the Leisure Centre.
T L - follow signs to the Leisure Centre & the start of the Keswick Railway footpath.
Stay on Keswick Railway Footpath till Threlkeld - 3.6 miles - C2C busy, lose surface and danger.
Join the A66 & go to Scales - caution busy rd, approx 1.7 miles on.
Do not follow C2C to the left (Mungrisdale). Stay on the A66 for 4.8 miles and then T L on the B5288 for Motherby.
T L on the B5288 for Motherby & Greystoke
Heading for Greystoke - 1.8 miles.
Thro the village & then ahead T R for Little Blencow.
Keep L - past the Crown Inn - & follow signs to (Carlisle) & Laithes.
T R for Laithes - heading for Newton Reigny
Head for Newton Rigg & the College - set back off road to L - 1.1 miles
T L thro main gate & straight thro campus. Caution - gravelbase, lose grit & dangerous bends, slow down. Go under the M6 & rail line & to the end of Thacka Ln - see Esso Garage on the R - T L AWAY FROM PENRITH CENTRE up Scotland Rd.
T L (away from Penrith centre).After 2/10 mile bear Right onto Salkeld Rd - climb hill & take 2nd R on to Beacon Edge and continue for 1.3 miles - now back on C2C route.
T L off Beacon Edge, take Stagstones Rd, heading towards Langwathby - 2.4 miles - climb then decent to junction - take care of dangerous bends & surface - slow. Stop at the junction at the bottom of the hill - T R not L with the C2C.
T R on the B6412 (unsigned) for 3/10 mile, then L on the A686 - heading for Langwathby.
T L - by the War Memorial & head out towards Little Salkeld
Heading towards Renwick - bear Left to Renwick after 2 miles
On the edge of the village, poor C2C sign posting! - T R and head to A686 - 2.9 miles and then Hartside Summit Cafe!!! (seasonal).
T L onto the A686 to Hartside Cafe (seasonal) - 1.5 miles approx
From the summit - carry on for 3.2 miles and T R for Leadgate & Garrigill. Caution - fast and some potholes.
Minor rd T R for Leadgate & Garrigill.
Heading for Garrigill - 4 miles.
T L by the green, over the river & L for 3/10 mile then T R across the B6277 & climb up Flinty Fell.
Climbing towards Nenthead - 2.8 miles.

T L to Allenheads. Black Hill ahead - highest point on the C2C - 7/10 mile!
Highest point on the C2C. Ahead 9/10 mile bear Right for Allenheads.
CAUTION - DO NOT MISS THIS RIGHT TURN - heading to Allenheads - 4.4 miles.
Cross the B6295 & climb out - heading for Currick & Rookhope - 5.9 miles.
Rookhope Burn down to the right.
In the village keep R (not the off road option) & keep Rookhope Burn on your R for the road to Stanhope - T L in 4/10 mile- poorly signed.
CAUTION - on village edge T L -poor C2C signage. Signed St John's Church - climb hill out of valley.
T L & then L again on B6278 in 6/10 mile - THE HILL FROM HELL!
T L on B6278 & climb up Crawleyside. Do not take the C2C at the Waskerley Way entry point -(to your R) STAY ON THE B6278, signed Edmundbyers, for a further 1.1 m.
T R - signed for Castleside - reservoir below to R at this junction.
Smiddy Shaw Reservoir on your L, keep R at fork in 9/10 mile head for Healeyfield (Castleside direction).
Continue to A68 junction just south of Rowley village - 1.7 miles.
CAUTION - T R towards Rowley - badly signposted - not for Castleside now.
At A68 T R and immediate L on to signed for Lanchester - turning 2nd L for Newbiggin in 7/10 mile- this is unsigned - have faith- heading for Lanchester.
2nd turn Left - Newbiggin -3.1 miles - Lanchester 4.4 miles -do not turn off anywhere.
Lanchester Church - 1.3 miles.
T L & immediate R to Lanchester centre & to the Parish Church (steeple).
By the Church, T L up Peth Bank - climb out heading for Burnhope top.(radio mast)
The east coast is ahead, this is the "top" - down the hill - stop at the junction, T R and keep R to Holmside (signed Chester le St).
Heading for Grange Villa - T L at Charlaw Inn - down Humbleburn Lane for 6/10 m to the next T junction - T L - on to the next junction- keep R & - then T L down the hill to Grange Villa.
Take 1st R on Pelton Lane (Body Blitz) - on thro Newfield & head for Pelton - rejoining the C2C route in 1.3 m at the railway bridge.
Keep on to the T Junction - T R towards Pelton, down the hill to the old railway bridge over the road & join the C2C ON THE FAR SIDE.
Go under the bridge, cross the road & up the path on to the C2C - straight ahead ride East to Sunderland - 14.2 miles.
Continue on rail path - lots of vehicle barriers to deal with.
Under A693 - continue over the rail line & A167 / A6127.
Continue on C2C path.
On C2C route - heading over the A182
On C2C path - continue on path.
On C2C path- T L on Newman Lane & R on to C2C path alongside a railway line.
Under the railway line, close to the Wear and Victoria Viaduct - stay on N side of the Wear.
Turning away from the Wear, T R at top of path (Pattinson Rd)
T R & head towards Washington Wildfowl Wetlands.
Turn off R heading towards the Washington Wildfowl Wetlands Centre
Heading for Low Barmston Farm - 6/10 mile.
T L towards the main rd and then R running parallel with this side of A1231
Turn acute R & parallel with the A1231 - not over the road.
Double back then under the A19 - caution - steep decent down to the Shipwrights Inn -follow C2C signs carefully.
Follow Ferryboat Lane, bear L away from the Wear and then R just before the A1231
Caution here -keep R, do not go on to r/bout, follow C2C for 200 yds then turn R again just BEFORE the underpass & the A1231. Follow the C2C - some are on the main rd. Colima Ave & Timber Beach - keep following Wear east.
Follow the C2C along the river, take care here, busy & narrrow in parts.
Next stop Roker.
