Whitebridge - Kurri Kurri - Raymond Terrace

The way points of this bicycle route:

Whitebridge

Begin at 5-way roundabout (surprisingly safe). Then 1st R, R onto path, then follow tarred, marked cycleway.

Kahibah - Burwood Rd

Obey stop sign; watch for traffic up and down the hills either side.

Fernleigh Tunnel

Brisbane Water Road

Prepare for stop sign at Dibbs St; again, obey & watch for traffic.

Fletcher St

R off cycleway here, then 1st L onto Bailey.

Ride decisively across roundabout.

Adamstown Station

Turn L across gates. Hourly weekday and 2 hourly weekend trains to Sydney or Newcastle.

L at T-section, then 1st R at lights. Tricky after 9am Mon-Sat.

Lambton Park Pub

SA at lights onto cycleway.

Look for busy roundabout downhill to your right. Take the branch of the cycleway that goes towards it.

Jesmond Pub

Rejoin road here.

Wallsend Servos

Stop for a Red Bull. Last drink stop on route until Stanford Merthyr.

Cross into middle lane, then SA at roundabout with fast traffic. Ride decisively.

Cameron Park

Turn L following signs to West Wallsend & Kurri Kurri.

Cameron Park Go-Kart Track

Turn R at roundabout; again follow signs to Kurri Kurri.

Seahampton

Stay on main road; sharpish L. Going starts getting tough. Narrow but smooth shoulder next 3km.

Shoulder widens; but is rough in places. Very satisfactory road with light to medium traffic.

Very good section of road; smooth wide shoulder.

Shoulder and road very wide. However, shoulder has erosion bumps in places that are quite difficult to see; don't hoon it.

Richmond Vale turnoff

Very satisfactory road; adequate shoulders with minor bumps.

John Renshaw/George Booth Roundabout (Out)

Road into Kurri Kurri is wide; but has bumps running across the shoulders. Medium to medium-high traffic.

Stanford Merthyr Servo (Out)

L into Railway, R into Hampden (bumpy edges), L into Coronation, R into Allworth.

Kurri (HEZ) Sportsground

Referee game of Under 19's; then run Open grade touch-line.

Kurri Kurri Shops

Stanford Merthyr Servo (In)

Stop for Powerade & Lollies. Last stop on route until Beresfield.

John Renshaw/George Booth (In)

Very good road with smooth shoulders and frequent overtaking lanes. Medium traffic.

Black Hill turnoff

John Renshaw/Weakleys Roundabout

Servo & Burger King here if needed. High traffic until motel.

Cross New England Highway at road level (pretty safe). Bikes not allowed on overpass (you wouldn't want to use it).

L at motel.

R at T-Section

L just before dead-end; there is a small sign to Woodberry.

Tarro Station

Don't ride on the edges of this road. The middle is smooth and there is very little traffic.

Woodberry

R at T-section. Low to medium traffic to Millers Forest.

Millers Forest

R at roundabout. Medium to low traffic for rest of trip.

R at Adelaide St T-Section.

Stop at Servo for newspaper.

Raymond Terrace (Truscott St)
