This is a basic out and back route. I intentionally avoid back roads on cold and icy days due to risk of back ice (I rode it on New Year's Day with temps in the mid-20s). The main roads are better maintained. Close to Wheeling, there is traffic, but it drops off to a trickle after Triadelphia. The hills are minimal with a gradual 600 ft climb to the state line, then a gradual descent on the return trip.by bmiller
