The way points of this bicycle route:
starts near Westfield train station. Lots of options for food, and more on the north side of the train tracks.
lots of pleasant streets in the neighborhoods northwest of here in Fanwood.
Cooper Rd is narrower than I'd wish for this route, but seems to work OK if I avoid times with higher traffic.
Inman Av gets lots of traffic, but it's rather wide and mostly without many parked cars in this direction at least when I usually do it.
surface kinda rough thru here as of 2008. Westfield Av is smoother but usually has more vehicle traffic.
Valley Rd gets lots of vehicle traffic, but it's wide enough. This section usually has some parked cars when I do it, but not so many that I can't manage it comforably if I'm careful.
sometimes I've connected to the Linden train station by going southeast on Summit Summit, then Spruce to Blanke, then Price or Lumber.
more parked cars on this section of Myrtle than I'd wish, but with care I find I can manage it.
I don't like the traffic interaction in this section of Centennial Av, but at least it's short.

tries to follow wider streets which tend not to have so many parked cars, also streets with less vehicle traffic, and usually streets with smoother surface. Wanders thru various urban/suburban neighborhoods. (Placement of via points was tuned a bit for GPS.) This route last checked by me in 2008.
