The way points of this bicycle route:
Welcome to Waverl[e]y land. Within one mile of here, you might encounter Waverley Terrace, Waverley Street, Waverley Road, Waverly Square, and Waverly Ave.
One block of heavy traffic, sometimes. If you are very cautious, you could use the signalled ped crossing at Wheelworks and (side)walk it down to Waverley St.
Left onto Waverley Street, which is minimally marked.
Jog right to avoid the traffic and hill on Waverley Street, and to take advantage of the crosswalk later on at Common (instead of waiting for the light, which is likely).
If traffic's a problem, hop off the bike, become a ped, and demand your rights in the crosswalk.
Wrong way on a do not enter, but it doesn't appear to be a one-way street, and there's about zero traffic. Law-abiding cyclists will instead turn right, bike uphill, and and take the legal left turn at Stone, the same intersection where my shiny red car was hit, in broad daylight, by some guy pulling out of Stone in a hurry.
Google's one-way indication for Orchard Cir is bogus; there are no signs indicating this, and if you zoom in on satellite view you can see the painted centerline for the two traffic directions.
Optionally, jog left to cross at the crosswalk, and bike around Clay Pit Pond.
If traffic's a problem, hop off the bike, become a ped, and demand your rights in the crosswalk.
If traffic's a problem, hop off the bike, become a ped, and demand your rights in the crosswalk.
Turn right off the road, and proceed parallel to (and outside of) the fence along the RR right-of-way. Follow the path until you are almost to Alewife, when it takes a sharp right into trees. Conditions vary depending on weather and trail maintenance. Do not play with the trains.
Right turn into trees, careful not to hit any bikes/peds coming the other way.
There's a big bump (tree root) right about here.
Ride on the sidewalk, north to the crosswalk.
If there's too much traffic, hop off, become a ped, and demand your rights in the crosswalk.
I am not sure what the bike path designers intended, so I am conservative here, and use the lights and crosswalks.
