Cross Duwamish River on old West Seattle Bridge
Cross at traffic light crosswalf and turn north on E. Marginal Way. Caution - poor surface on bike lane.
Obey signs and lights - Police give tickets in this area.
Need to be in the left turn lane here to turn onto 4th Ave.
4th is one way North bound. Watch for buses and turning cars in right lane
Take center lane to go straight across Denny Way.
Option - Left on Valley, Right on Queen Anne Ave, up the Counterbalance hill.
This route from here to 4th Ave N. is insanely steep. Option - Continue on Taylor Ave N, Left on Newton St. or Boston St., Left on 4th Ave, Right on Garfield.
Queen Anne Standpipes
Option - Left here and climb Thorndyke Ave and head back north on 28th Ave. W. Longer but less steep. Don't go up Dravus Street - too narrow, no shoulders, high speed traffic, even the sidewalk is bad.
Very steep climb 1/2 mile up Emerson and W MAnor Place.

4 Blocks very steep climb up W. Barrett. Gets worse as you go up.
