The way points of this bicycle route:
Parking (if you need it) at the riverside or two shoppers' car parks near the Market Square.
Good old climb here. Very straight approach then a 12% sharp left bend. It levels off a bit, then goes up again. Look out for the beacon on the left - when you see that, you're almost there.
Nice fast spin from this point on, wind permitting. Look out for the sculpture trail!
This is the only stretch of A road, but it's wide and fairly safe.
A good descent here, with fantastic views across the valley
The descent gets steeper here and the road becomes narrow. Look out for the junction at the end as it appears suddenly.
A nice little climb that gets steeper towards the top. Single track road with passing places, but a good surface.
Nice, quiet, single track roads with fairly good surfaces. Beautiful riding through the woods. Keep quiet and you'll see deer...
A few sharp bends here - keep your wits about you.
Sharp bends here
Turn up the hill - a short lung-buster
Great climb on a very quiet single track road. Surface is not so good.
Cross the A4130 here - watch out, it's fast.
Fast descent followed by a reasonable climb into Stoke Row
Take the left turn signposted 'Checkendon'
Take the right turn signposted 'Equestrian Centre'. Watch out for horses.
Turn onto Berins Hill for a nice descent through the trees
12% descent
Very sharp left hander. Watch out for gravel on the exit from the bend.
Nice little climb to the Ipsden crossroads - keep it on the big ring!
Good single track road, good views (of the power station....) and road visibility. There's a 30mph descent down a valley here and you can keep it going up the other side, but watch out for horses!
Fast descent from here
Once you're done, there's food at Down to Earth Cafe on St Mary's Street, Wallingford, a couple of doors up from the Rides on Air bike shop.
