WMB 115 North Downs Easy (Blue) Route

Start/Finish Reigate Hill car park; alternative start point at Headley Heath. Total distance 10.6 miles (17.1km), 266m ascent Time 1-3 hours Maps OS Explorer 1:25k Dorking, Box Hill & Reigate Route summary The perfect mix of open heathland, gentle singletrack and easy paths. Directions From Reigate Hill car park, take North Downs Way west for 1.5km. Pass through gate at viewpoint, bear right on bridleway through gate to cross M25. Left at crossroads towards Mogador. Double back past Sportsman pub, then continue straight onto Banstead Heath. Follow bridleway north across heath, bear left on narrower path through woods towards Walton on the Hill, crossing B2302 and exiting at duck pond. Turn left onto B220, then right onto Queens Close. Follow bridleway down the hill, bearing left at bridleway junction in valley and climbing under M25 to exit onto minor road in Headley. Turn left onto road. Off-road cycle path appears quickly on left and can be used to avoid dark and narrow stretch of road. Climb to junction with B2033 but do not rejoin road. Take bridleway directly in front to pick up Tye Lane bridleway heading south-east. Descend into small valley on narrow singletrack (beware horses on blind bends), staying right at only bridleway junction to climb gently again to road. Cross B2032, bear left and then right on byway to the edge of the escarpment. At junction with bridleway where byway descends very steeply off edge of escarpment ahead, bear left to contour along top of hill. Follow this path due east via one short descent and climb. Where North Downs Way joins from the right at Colley Hill, continue straight ahead via bridleway diversion on wide track to return to Reigate Hill.by Matt_Skinner
