Villacastín debuts as a stage start in La Vuelta. The destination, the La Covatilla ski resort. Sierra de Bejar will host the finish in a 180-kilometre stage with a mountain top finish and a category 3 start. After passing through Bejar, the course will begins the climb up to the 1,970 metre summit, location of the finish line. The demanding Salamanca mountain pass will lead to the first names being dropped from the list of favourites.
