Vallejo Ferry to Pleasant Hill BART Station
by sstelzer

The way points of this bicycle route:

Vallejo

From the Vallejo Ferry station, head south on Waterfront Park trail, which is a large boardwalk at the water's edge.

At the end of the boardwalk, turn sharp left into the parking lot and find your way to Mare Island Road.

Right on Mare Island. No bike lane.

Turn southeast onto Sonoma Boulevard (Hwy 29). You will have on/off bike lane on Sonoma, but the right lane is typically very wide except for a few places.

Bear Right on Maritime Academy Drive to find the bridge trailhead, as the signs suggest.

Enter the well-marked Zampa bridge bike/ped trail on your left.

Take the Zampa Bridge bike path

If you wish, turn right here before the bridge really starts, to take in the view from the vista point.

Crockett

Bike lane turns ends at San Pablo/Pomona Avenue.

At the end of the bridge bike path, turn left onto Pomona Blvd's bike lane.

Cross under I-80

Enter cute, small downtown Crockett. Some food here: delis & cafe's

Start Carquinez Scenic Parkway. The next 7 or so miles will be the curvy and hilly and...fun!!

This park is worth a stop to admire and possibly approach the cows grazing on the publicly accessible hills. Watch your steps for manure!

Bear right so as to stay on Carquinez Scenic parkway and not take Canyon Lake.

Many bikers turn right on McEwen Road. It's a fun ride too, but you will stay on the Carquinez Scenic Parkway today.

Soon after this point the road will be closed to cars. Bikes can continue.

Around here is a warning that the road is closed, the area is hazardous, no trespassing. walk your bike around the barricade and continue.

Martinez

The cemeteries on your right and left are worth stopping for if you have time. You can't enter but you can look from the road. They contain some of the earliest Californians and the mausoleums and tombstones are rather decrepit, giving the place a very spooky feel.

At the end of the Scenic Drive, left on Foster, right on Richardson, left on Buckley, right on Berellessa's bike lane.

Berellessa curves right and becomes Alhambra Avenue without losing the bike lane.

At the Walgreens and the confusing bike route signs, turn left onto Alhambra *Way*.

Cross under highway 4.

Turn left on Muir Station Road and go uphill.

Cross Center Avenue. Muir Station Road turns into Muir Road.

After the VA Hospital, turn left to stay on Muir Road.

After the Kaiser Permanente turn left again to stay on Muir Road again.

Turn right on Morello Avenue's bike lane.

Pleasant Hill

Go straight ahead as the road becomes Chilpancingo Parkway. The road that turns to the right retains the name "Morello Avenue".

Turn right onto the well-marked Contra Costa Canal Trail.

Crossing Golf Club road, Diablo Valley College will be to your left.

Pass the trailhead for the Briones-to-Mt. Diablo regional trail on your right. Stay on the Contra Costa Canal Trail.

Cross under 680 and elevated BART tracks

Turn left off the Contra Costa Canal trail and onto the Iron Horse regional trail. A sign tells you Pleasant Hill BART is .3 miles away.

At Jones, the path becomes sidewalk, cross Treat at the crosswalk and enter the Pleasant Hill BART station parking lot.

You have arrived at Pleasant Hill BART.
