WARNING! This is a scene of frequent accidents on this tour! Be careful when crossing the slits in the asphalt that separate the main lanes from the shoulder. Stay on the shoulder, even if it is tempting to get out on the main lanes.
Don't fail to visit the air conditioned building with the medical team if you have become dehydrated. The rest of the ride is a real challenge, completely exposed to the elements as we cross 15 miles of flat coastal plain.
Definitely one of my favorite towns along this route. The folks turn out to support you ... be sure to thank them!

Congratulations! Finally the ocean is in sight. Be sure to pull off to side of the road to enjoy the view of the Gulf of Mexico and Corpus Christi and snap a picture!
