Upper Colo to Windsor via Sackville

The way points of this bicycle route:

Upper Colo Reserve

(Day 2 of a 2 day ride. See 'Comments' Tag for details).

Turn right onto Colo Heights Rd.

Bradleys Arm

Turn left onto Upper Colo Rd (Sealed Rd for a short distance).

(Unsealed road starts around here. Road is sealed again for the last 6 km or so before the Putty Rd).

Central Colo

(Proceed under the Putty Rd bridge. * Turn right just before bridge for access to the Putty Rd. [Access rd not marked on this map] * There used to be a service station and public camping area several hundred metres along the Putty Rd, on the other side of the river. These are both closed at present [Jan '07]. * Large shady parking area area under bridge, but pretty grotty.

(* Park with picnic tables on left. * Composting toilets with very small water tank and small hand-basins on right. Also undercover picnic table * This section of the road is called Lower Colo Rd, not Upper Colo Rd as marked on this map. * Reasonable quality unsealed road, narrow in places).

(Reasonably long steep climb starts around here)

Lower Portland

Turn right into West Portland Rd [Sealed]. (Alternative route: Turn left instead, and cross over Lower Portland Ferry, right into River Rd, Right into Sackville Ferry Rd, then Sackville Ferry).

Sackville

(A bit of a climb...)

(Lookout over the river & small picnic shelter on the left).

(Bull Ridge Rd on right).

Turn right into Sackville Rd. Some traffic, no/unsealed shoulder for most of Sackville Rd. (Toilets 300m to the left, at the Sackville Ferry. Alternative route: Turn left then right into Tizzana Rd. Rejoin Sackville Rd at the end of Tizzana Rd).

Ebenezer

Service Station and shop on left.

(Tourist attraction: Ebenezer Uniting Church [Aust oldest church and school] & picnic area approx 1.5km. Turn left into Tizzana Rd then right into Coromander).

Wilberforce

Shopping centre on right.

Left into Wilberforce (Putty) Rd. (Shops and service station opposite corner). Busy road, but reasonable shoulder.

Use shared path for getting across bridge.

Windsor

Proceed up service road (short steep climb).

Merge into Bridge St

Turn right at roundabout

Finish at Waterwheel. (Approx 1.5km to Railway Station: Proceed through mall and continue along George St).
