The way points of this bicycle route:
There might be lower-traffic way to ride south from Tramin / Termeno -- either higher west as far as Kurtatsch / Cortaccia, or on valley floor on farm roads. But the Weinstrasse / Strada del Vino is rather pretty, so I haven't looked that hard for alternatives.
possible alternative which is shorter + gentler + has less traffic -- but also less interesting and less scenic -- is instead to start roughly east toward Neumarkt, the turn onto the Adige bike trail and go southwest toward Lavis.
with beautiful cathedral
an alternative to consider here is to go southeast and south on the bike path -- to meet the Adige bike path.
There might be an alternate street a little further southwest of the main street which avoids the traffic and goes southeast to connect with the route continuing to Nave San Rocco, but I haven't checked it yet.
the climb south from here includes +65 meters vertical at steepness around 8-10% grade.
the climb south from here includes about +80 meters at steepness around 9-11% grade.
the descent south from here includes about +50 meters vertical at steepness around 10-12% grade.
the descent east from here includes +55 meters vertical at steepness around 9-11%

section A of Tramin - Cembra alternate loop of (hilly) 100km (62 miles). Many vineyards, some apple orchards, pretty villages, sweeping views across the valley. Some much steeper climbing sections than the obvious Tramin-Cembra loop, including two sections of 80 and 55 vertical meters at steepness around 9-11% grade, which is pretty steep for most riders, and a long section around 7-9% steepness. Labels on route points discuss alternate routes and give steepness measures of some hills -- can read the notes on Bikely by clicking Show, then select Cue Sheet.
For more info + links + connections to other routes, see www.roberts-1.com/b/x/it. The other half of this loop on Bikely is "Cembra - Altrei - Truden - Tramin".
Only checked by me once so far, not since 2009.
