The way points of this bicycle route:
Ride starts here. Leave town D36 towards Lourmarin.
Right onto the D943 towards Lourmarin.
Lourmarin has a Renaissance chateau and a cemetary (off the D27), in which Albert Camus is buried. Per Rick Steves, Peter Mayles now lives here. Leave town eastbound on the D27.
Left onto the D45 towards Vaugines.
We will also pass through this town on the way back. Leave town on the eastbound D27 towards Sannes.
This is the far point of the route. If a longer route is desired, one can take the D27 and the D42 through Fontjoyeuse, Les Roux, Pepin d'Aigues and Les Dones to La Bastide des Jourdans and then return by the same route, which adds about 20km. Otherwise, take the northwestbound D120 to Cabrieres d'Aigues.
Leave town on the westbound D189 (Route de Cucuron).
Leave town on the D56 westbound to Vaugine.
Parts of the films "Jean de Florette" and "Manon des Sources" where shot in this town. See the giant horse chestnut tree and the fabulous moss-covered fountain that fills the central Place de la Fontaine. Leave town on the D56 westbound towards La Graviere and Lourmarin.
Continue towards Lourmarin.
Return to Bonnieux they way you came: northbound on the D943.
Left onto the D35 towards Bonnieux.
