The way points of this bicycle route:
This is the start and end of the route. Although the distance is stated as 62.7 miles, you can deduct about 13 miles off the distance for ferry trips. The two longer ferry trips are on quite large ships where snacks and drinks can be purchased. Enjoy!
This part of the route can be quite heavy trafic, if more than one person better to ride single file.
Buy a HOPSCOTCH ticket on the ferry as it is the cheapest way to do this route as it is the fare for the three ferries. The sail is about 40 minutes and is a pleasant break with wonderful views.
Come off the ferry and cycle up to the main road and take a right turn
Take the road round the point as it is quieter with less trafic.
Come on to the main road again. There will be very little trafic for a good few miles now. Enjoy!
The HOPSCOTCH ticket covers this ferry too.
Take this single track road as it very interesting, but beware of the road surface and the occasional car.
Come back on to main road.
This next part of the route has steep steady climbs and descents. Beware of forestry trafic and sheep. On a good day some of the views are worth a picture.
You hit more trafic at this point.
Don't take this ferry as your ticket does not cover that one.
Take this ferry over to Gourock. It takes about 30 minutes but it is a nice wee rest before the final part on busy roads.
This junction can be a bit dificult to get out of, but you might come across a "Knight of the Road" that will let you out.
Great views from here over the Clyde estuary.
You are back at the first ferry you boarded earlier.
Home sweet home. I hope the weather was kind to you and you had an enjoyable day.
