The way points of this bicycle route:
Start at the Lighthouse -Marina Parking Lot Or on one of the side streets nearby that does not have a designated parking limit or no parking sign. You will ride through Plum Island a beach community....into Newburyport a classic New England Coastal town with a beautiful shopping district and waterfront.
You will cross the plum island drawbridge and go by the Plum Island Airport
From downtown Newbury port and the riverwalkway, you will wind your way through Downtown Newbury and head for West Newbury. You will pass Maudslay State Park which has mountain bike and walking paths/trails. Keep in mind certain trails are for walking only so read the signs.
You are now in the heart of the quiet village of West Newbury. There are only a few shops here. But there is a good Pizza place and Vriety store on 133 closer to the Groveland Line. River Rd offers great foliage viewing and views of the Merrimack River. Caution Crossing 133.
You return after 146 miles to Plum Island after travelling several miles of the trip along the Merrimack River
