The way points of this bicycle route:
Starting Point and half way point for the Stannage Section. A ride of two halves. First section taking you over Houndkirk, onto totley moor, then down through Blacka Moor woods, back over Totley and Houndkirk to here. Second half is the Stannage pole loop. Taking on the Redmires Reservoirs, Stannage pole, a Black or Red descent, a steep long road climb followed by a great fast road descent back to here, where beer awaits!
From here go straight up Ringinglow Road until you meet a bridle way on your left, go left through gate.
Tarmac Climb
Turn left onto bridle way
Left here through gate
Rocky Double Track. Continue up, then turn left, over style into plantation
Over Style down though plantation
Fast rooty rocky Descent
Continue down singletrack though plantation, taking right at fork.
Take a right here going along singletrack
Follow around tight singletrack onto Houndkirk Bridleway.
Through gate, left over broken wall, down singletrack.
Quick grassy singletrack descent
Take left fork around bottom of hill, follow track until a left climb.
Take the right (not through gate) and climb up jumble road (medium/hard rocky climb)
Medium/Hard rocky ascent
Turn left on to Hounkirk for some good rocky and sandy climbing and descending
Sandy trail
Beware of trials bikes, 4WD's and sheep!
Gate. Turn left and join Hathersage road, taking a left.
Tarmac climb. Connecting Section. Turning right into Stony Ridge Rd.
Turn right up Stony Ridge Rd
Turn left off Stony Ridge rd, through a gap in 2 large rocks, on to track. (less boring!)
Follow track round, turing left back onto Stony Ridge Road
Turn left back on to Stony Ridge Rd
Turn left off Stony Ridge Rd, through gate on to Totley moor.
Follow quick single/doubletrack over Totley Moor. Lots of sheep (mint sauce!)
Outward trail. Totley Moor
Navigate through very uneven ground, following the left grassy singletrack up and over
Left at junction following track up and over.
Outward Trail Grassy Singletrack climb
Take left fork
Take left, drop down onto Bole Hill. Tight Singletrack. Test of balance, try not to dab!
Tight single track around a hill. Good stuff!
Outward Trail
Very tight singletrack. Nice drop on right hand side!
Through Gate. Go right then left over a little wooden bridge. Climb up small grassy hill until another gate on your left at big tree!
Go through gate, follow rocky descent down, look out for the drops and big roots. Take a left at fork further down at wooden seat.
Turn left at junction. Down fast singletrack, rocky, rooty with drops between a couple of inches and a foot n' half!. BEWARE OF GATE FURTHER DOWN JUST AFTER SWEEPING RIGHT!
GATE, USUALLY CLOSED, HEAVY BREAKING!
The Steps! Drops and rocks. Great stuff!
Small Water hazzard, ride through ford! Turn right down fast smooth singletrack
Outward trail
Follow round. Beware of horses.
Shorts Lane Stable
Turn left out of shorts lane on to Whitelow Lane
Turn left going up Whitelow Lane.
Follow lane to the top.
A long tarmac climb
Turn left onto Hathersage Road, Continue up until car park on left.
turn left into car park up ahead.
Turn left into car park.
Turn left through hole in wall into Blackamoor Woods.
Nice singletrack
Follow track, through first gate....
Gate.
A Great section of twisting rooty singletrack
Gate. Marking the begining of a fantastic descent. Fast, rooty, rocky, boneshaking singletrack
Turn right. Keep going down for more very technical descending. Black Run.
Turn Left at bottom to re-join fast track ridden on earlier. Look out for right turn off just before shorts lane stable.
RIGHT TURN! Onto fire road Inward Trail
Follow fireroad till Strawberry Lee Lane then turn Right up Strawberry Lee Lane.
Turn right on to Srawberry Lee Lane.
Car Park
Steep fire road climb
Very Technical rocky climb. Hardest of the route?
Gate
Crazy climb!
Continue over totley moor.
Beware of Stuck 4WD cars! Give me pedal power any day!!
Water hazzard.

Gate. End of Totley moor
Cross Stony Ridge Road. Turn right onto Owler Bar Road, heading down to Fox house.
Need to pee?? Turn right into Hathersage Road. Climb until bridle way on left, turn onto it.
Turn left onto Houndkirk, again!!
Back over Houndkirk but the fast way this time.
Inward trail. Take left at fork
Right at T junction
Rocky Singletrack
Left on to Houndkirk Bridle Way
Blast straight through junction.
Continue straight on to Tarmac rd, up to the Norfolk Amrs. First section of ride complete.
End of first half of ride, 16.6 miles. 12.4 miles for the rest of ride. Second half takes on Stannage pole. For cafe go down Fulwood lane, turn left off into the Alpaca Centre. Pee stop!
Start of second half of ride, via cafe at Alpaca centre if required. Turn right into Fulwood Road, right intocafe at sign post, carry straight on for ride.
Turn into cafe.
Cafe stop. Open Tue - Fri 10:00am to 4:00pm Sat Sun - 10:ooam to 4:00pm Closed Monday
Turn left out of Cafe on to Fulwood Road. Follow rd.
Keep to Fulwood Ln
Follow.
Turn right into Roper Hill
Tarmac descent
Turn left into Brown Hils Lane
Right into Soughley Lane
Left into Redmires Road
Follow
Tarmac turning into fireroad
Turn right into the Long Causeway
Lone Fireroad climb
Gate
Keep climbing up to Stannage Pole
Great views and place to catch breath. Proceed down the Long Causeway
At this Point you can either take the Black descent down (left) or proceed down the Red descent along the causeway.
Very rocky Red Descent
Car Park. Turn Left at car park
Follow road down
Car Park where Black descent meets up.
Continue down to car park to meet up with the trail
Caution! Black steep Rocky descent!
Start of Black descent
End of Black descent
Turn left onto new road. Climb
Turn left into new road. Big climb ahead
Top of main climb. Fast road descent coming up!
Join Cam Height
Go straight down fire road, leaving Cam Height
Turn right. Re-join Cam Height
Very fast road descent all the way back to the Norfolk Arms, the end of the ride and a well earned pint!
I've reached almost 50mph down here!
