The Hoadly Loop

The way points of this bicycle route:

Montclair

Station 17

Lake Terrapin

Short paved footpath connects Tallowwood Drive with Lake Terrapin Drive.

Prince William County

Bike path runs all the way down to 234.

Ashland

Newly-constructed intersection here

Map hasn't caught up with new construction yet. This section of 234 is slightly North of here. No worries really though, just follow the path and it will get you to the right place.

Shopping center here with grocery store, sandwich shop, hardware store.

Hoadly is high speed 4-lane with wide shoulders. Some riders prefer to parallel this route on Token Valley Road

Bike trail along the north side of Prince William Parkway.

Prince William County Government Center and Stadium

Prince William County Government Offices (McCoart Office Building) and stadium complex.

Construction along here for maybe half a mile. The bike trail is gravel until construction is complete.

Shopping Center with grocery store, sandwich shops, etc. Normally you would cross Old Bridge Road here and follow the parkway (and bike trail), but there's construction at this intersection and the bike trail is gone between here and Chinn Park Drive.

Bike trail picks back up here

Bike trail ends here.

Hillendale is residential two-lane with marked on-street parking. Heavy volume of traffic between here and Dale Blvd.

Dale Blvd is 2-lane with marked on-street parking. Turns to 4-lane at Glendale. People drive too fast here.

Dale City

Just off Gemini there's a commuter lot where a weekend farmers' market is held. Shopping center on both sides of Dale Blvd here. Very high traffic/congestion.

As you cross here beware drivers turning right from Dale Blvd onto Minnieville...they WILL NOT see you stepping into the crosswalk. I cross here and ride the sidewalk down Minnieville. You can ride the sidewalk down either side of Minnieville.

There is usually some pedistrian traffic along the sidewalk and you'll frequently have to ride the grass to get past people.

You can continue down Minnieville to Cardinal but I prefer to get off the sidewalk and ride the quiet(er) residential streets.

The sidewalk along Cardinal runs down to Waterway Drive. Cardinal is a high-speed 4-lane with high-volume at certain times of the day. Sometimes I ride the street if the traffic isn't too bad.
