Some testing climbs (2, Col de Portet-d'Aspet, 1069m; 2, Col des Ares, 797m) and a long, fast, technical descent of Port des Bales (HC, 1755m) where positions can and probably will change. The Port de Bales has only been climbed once, in 2007, before which there was no tarmac - laid as it was especially for le Tour. The pass is a fantastic sight, hard, not very wide and, once the riders reach the top, a good downhill rider can open up the gaps, because it really is a very tough descent.
