Beginning with morning tea at Tog's Cafe, after arriving off the morning train at 9.50am
Back towards the station, heading out on the back route to Maldon
Left turn at Parker St, past the botanical gardens
We soon enter bushland areas.
Turn right at cross-roads. Watch and listen for the Maldon tourist steam train.
Turn left on Lewis Rd.
Turn left on main road to Maldon
Get supplies for lunch here.
Left turn for Baringhup and Maryborough.
Lunch by the Loddon. General store at caravan park.
Wide open views across the volcanic plains.
Turn right to enter Carisbrook.
Take left turn for Talbot.
Straight ahead across cross-roads for Talbot.
Veer left onto main Maryborough Rd.
Turn off left into Talbot.
Chesterfield House B&B, lovely period accommodation
Farmers Market on Sunday. Over 300 stalls fill this small town.
Set up as an interesting museum collection.
Follow signs to Majorca.
Lunch stop at picnic shelter. Water and toilets. An old mining town, now a virtual ghost town.
Rest stop by the reservoir.
Watch out for the remains of an old shaft mining operations in a paddock.
An interesting old cemetery here.
Great afternoon tea stop in the Dig Cafe
Cresting the last hill for a long descent into Castlemaine.
Turn right at the traffic lights, then left at the roundabout to get to Al Capone's.
Al Capones for dinner before catching the 7.10pm train to Southern Cross.
