The way points of this bicycle route:
Sunday, February 15, 2009, people being painted should assemble at 9.30am on the Physics lawn at the University of New South Wales. Ride leaves midday. Appoximately 200 riders are expected. Full details of this ride are at http://www.sydneybodyartride.org
Leaving the path do a sharp left onto Southern Drive, watch out for the drain.
Turn right before the Rupert Myers Building to head though the Gate 14 exit to Barker St.
Turn left into Barker St.
Turn right into Forsyth St.
Turn left into Middle St and head up the hill (its not too bad).
Right into Botany St.
Left into Rainbow St. Watch for vehicles coming over the crest from the west.
Intersection of Rainbow St and Avoca St. The traffic lights here will break the group up. If the lights go red just stop, don't panic, you won't be left behind! The group will keep riding on for a few hundred metres along Rainbow St, then stop and wait for those caught at the lights.
After going through the traffic lights we will regroup.
Straight ahead through the roundabout at the intersection with Canberra St.
Theres a crest of a hill here where the marshalls can look back and see how the whole group is doing. We will probably stop and get everyone together before turning right into Malabar Rd at the roundabout ahead.
Turn right at the roundabout into Malabar Rd.
Intersection of Malabar Road and Arden Parade. Through the roundabout and continue following Malabar Road.
These traffic lights at the intersction of Malabar Rd and Napper St may break the group up. As before, don't worry if the group keeps riding off ahead. Just stop and we will regroup further up the road, we aren't riding fast.
Traffic lights near intersection of Malabar Rd and Mermaid Ave.
Traffic lights at the intersection of Malabar Rd and Torrington Rd. From here its mostly downhill to Maroubra. Over the next km some people will be tempted to pick up speed, we need to regulate the speed and keep the group together.
Traffic lights at intersection of Malabar Rd and Maroubra Rd, veer left to continue along Malabar Rd. We are still going downhill, need to keep the speed of the group down.
Roundabout at intersection of Malabar Rd and Duncan St, continue ahead along Malabar Rd.
We will regroup here on Malabar Rd between Mons Ave and Fitzgerald Ave.
Left into Fitzgerald Ave at the traffic lights. Its flat from here to the next roundabout.
Roundabout at intersection of Fitzgerald Ave and Marine Parade. Turn right to enter Arthur Byrne Reserve.
Left through the bollards to get to the park.
Finish the ride at Arthur Byrne Reserve near South Maroubra SLSC. Leave the bikes here. Wash off in the surf. If you can resist the urge to smile you have amazing self control.
