The way points of this bicycle route:
Start and end at the church. Free parking nearby.
You cross the track of the Wilts and Berks canal near here.
Turn right and then left across the A338. Watch for speeding traffic.
Turn into cul-de-sac. At the end there is a smooth tarmac track.
Double back to take the bridleway bridge over the A420.
Don't miss this right turn.
Careful, fast traffic. Turn right then immediate left over the A420.
Left then right up Old Boars Hill.
Steep uphill and narrow.
Take a breather and visit Jarn Mound to take in great views of Oxford.
Don't miss this turning as you go downhill.
Straight over A4183.
There is a cycle path on the RH side of the road if you choose.
Follow NCN Route 5 signs down Thrupp Road. Careful of large lorries using this section.
Offroad route NCN5 along old Abingdon branch railway.
Follow NCN5 signs. Track is rough here.
Pleasant offroad riverside cycling.
Cross junction. Maybe easier to dismount.
Old wharf where the Wilts and Berks canal joined the Thames. Seating area if you need a rest.
Continue following NCN5 signs along offroad track in good condition.
There is a cycle track on the LH side of the road.
